K4 CHP Plant Civils works for Eon, Kemsley Mill, Sittingbourne

Having completed an Enabling Works Contract, Civils Contracting Ltd. was asked to continue to work on this project for E.ON, providing civil engineering for the construction of their newest K4 CHP Plant.

The work we supplied included constructing extensive reinforced concrete structures above and below ground that will provide structural support for the plant; this process entailed complicated temporary works that were smoothly completed by our team.

Part of the construction of these concrete structures encompassed constructing nine-metre-high walls and facilitating up to five hundred cubic metres of single concrete pours using two concrete pumps and two concrete plants.

We worked to a tight programme, starting the work early in the morning and completing it under floodlights in the late evening to ensure this phase would be finished on time.

Once the concrete structures were completed, we placed over 300 tonnes of steelwork, which formed the turbine hall, where the turbines and generators are housed and provided stacked support.

Civil engineering in any construction project is an integral part of the process and can impact the progress of the rest of the phases. Civil Contracting Ltd. is a leading company in the field and has experience in all phases of construction projects across a number of sectors.
