We provided an end-to-end design and build service for this aviation project. Our brief for this 260,000ft² facility was to construct a hangar to house up to 14 Global 7500 aircraft.
The building is 160m by 105m and includes 7,080 m² of offices, a workshop, an annexe and first-floor areas.
The facility is made up of 2 hangar spaces, totalling 14,500m². These spaces have overhead cranes to provide efficient lifting and movement of heavy aircraft components or equipment, optimizing space and facilitating maintenance or repairs; gas radiant heating to ensure effective and even heating for consistent temperatures throughout the hangar, which are crucial for maintaining aircraft performance and preventing temperature-related issues; high bay LED lighting so that there is ample, energy-efficient illumination to improve visibility for maintenance tasks, inspections, and ensuring a well-lit and safe working environment; durable Silka epoxy floor finish, that delivers a robust and long-lasting floor solution, resistant to heavy loads, chemicals, and abrasion, safeguarding the hangar’s surface and facilitating easy cleaning and maintenance.
To finish off, we installed pavement-quality concrete aprons around the hangar, using 12,300m³ of concrete that was produced from the on-site batching plant. These aprons provide plenty of space for manoeuvring, parking, or servicing. We used concrete that is durable and strong enough to withstand the weight and impact of aircraft and equipment.
